Frequently Asked Questions

Is smoking permitted?
We ask our visitors kindly not to smoke anywhere in the house. They can smoke in the front porch and garden.

When can guests arrive?
The standard check-in period is between 2.00 and 7.00 pm. If you need to arrive earlier or later please let us know the details in advance.

By what time should guests check out?
By 10.30 am.

Are guests free to come and go as they please?
Guests will receive a key to the front door during check in and are then welcome to come and go as they please throughout the duration of their stay. Please consider other guests if you are returning late at night.

When is breakfast served?
We are not serving breakfast or other meals. The pub serves lunch and evening meals except Sunday night.

Is Colerne on any bus routes?
The buses that serve this area are the number 228 to Bath and the number 635 to Bristol or Chippenham. The nearest bus stop is just a minutes walk from the house, close to the village church. Time tables are available on request.

Can you recommend a local taxi firm?
Both Countrywide (01225 743789) and Kate’s Taxis (01225 810404) are reasonably priced and reliable.

Is there off-street parking at Trimnells House?
Yes – we are able to offer ample private off-road parking and guests may leave their vehicle in the car park for the duration of their visit.

Can we leave the car parked before checking in or after checking out?
Yes usually, by prior arrangement.

Do we need a car if staying at Trimnells House?
It is not essential but the rural location means that a car is probably better. Some of our guests have no car and manage fine. They arrive by train then bus and get about by bus and taxi, or on foot.

I shall arrive by train or coach – how can I find Trimnells House?
You are advised to check the bus times to Colerne from Chippenham or Bath bus and railway stations by prior arrangement.  Alternatively a taxi could be used.

Do you speak any foreign languages?
No – sorry not really, but we can nod our heads and do smile a lot!

Are there any Internet facilities for guests?
Yes – Complimentary Wi-Fi access to the Internet via broadband is available to all our guests who bring their own IT equipment.

Do you accept credit or debit cards?
We can accept credit and debit cards at time of reservation as security for the booking. You can book through our website where you can pay by card via a third party booking agent .  The cancellation policy is viewable there.

Do you accept bookings for just one night?
No- We do not, room types are only available for two nights minimum. However, we would suggest that this lovely part of England is always worth a much longer visit!

I have impaired mobility. Does Trimnells House have any suitable accommodation?
Yes – We have a ground floor double room with an en suite level access shower. There are stairs from the ground floor to the guest bedrooms on the first floor.

Can Guests bring any pets?
Guests may not bring pets; an exception is made for guide dogs.

    Secure payment for bookings can be made by debit/credit cards through our reservation website (via the 'Availability & Booking' menu link on the menu above). Otherwise full settlement of the bill should be paid at Trimnells House by credit card (via our cardreader), cash (GBP, EUR, USD, AUD, or NZD) or by cheque with guarantee card.

    Please do not arrive without a reservation.
